Description & Services

Information Wallace and Area Recreation Committee maintains the multi-sport facility located near the heart of Wallace on Route 307 (also known as Six Mile Road). Just south of the elementary school, these facilities are across from the Fire Department’s building. Located at the site is a fully fenced softball field with a groomed grass outfield and covered benches (dugouts) for each team. Outside of the fence is a set of bleachers for spectators to safely enjoy the games. An asphalt surfaced tennis court is to the west of the ball field. The tennis court is fenced and equipped with four basketball nets. South of the tennis courts is a rink area with an asphalt surface and four foot high boarded walls with fencing above them. The rink also has four basketball nets. The rink can be used for ball hockey, skate-boarding, roller-blading, and other activities. In the winter, when weather cooperates, the surface is flooded to make an ice rink. Lighting is provided so use of the rink during dark hours is available. Toilets are conveniently located between venues. There is a permanent canteen structure so during events a canteen service can be provided if organizers wish. There is ample parking for participants and spectators. All of the facilities are free for the community to use. It is requested users share the facilities equitably. The community has been very cooperative and this sharing of the facilities is working well. Should an organization or group of citizens wish to reserve use of the facilities for a specific event, such as a fund-raising tournament, they may request this by contacting the committee by email at recreation@wallacebythesea.ca.
